In a few short years Dick Desert has travelled as far a field as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the red light district of Paris performing from small bohemian venues to the largest of music festivals such as The Big Day Out, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Straight out of Brisbane Festival, Valley Fiesta, The Nimbin Mardi Grass, Australia's premier Indigenous festival, The Dreaming Festival and shortly the Woodford Folk Festival. Dick's all star punk country band The Shotgun Country Club have been causing a huge stir in their current home of Brisbane since their inaugural performance on the main stage at Valley Fiesta 2006. With Kaustic Kev's mouth organ and mandolin madness, long lost brother Mick Desert on lead and slide guitar, jazz drumming legend Bubbunj weilding the sticks and the newest addition to the band Joey Jailbreak pounding the double bass, they have created a combined sound cementing themselves at the forefront of contemporary, avante garde and alternative country music.
